U.S. may take further legal action against Ariz. immigration law

Washington Post Staff Writer

Sunday, July 11, 2010; 1:09 PM

Attorney General Eric Holder
said Sunday that if the federal government fails to stop Arizona's
controversial immigration law from taking effect, it may launch a
second legal challenge to combat any racial profiling that takes place.

The Ob

In its July 6 court filing, the Justice Department argued that the
Arizona law is unconstitutional because the power to set immigration
policy and enforce it resides with the federal government and not the
states.

Civil rights groups say the law could lead to harrassment of
Latinos, given Arizona's position as a border state with a large
Hispanic population. Although the government's lawsuit cites potential
"detention and harassment" of U.S. citizens and immigrants who do not
carry identification documents, it declines to make a legal argument
that the law would lead to racial profiling.

But on CBS's "Face the Nation" Sunday, Holder said if the federal
government's initial challenge fails and the Arizona law takes effect,
the Justice Department may have grounds for a later, second challenge.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/07/11/AR2010071101246.htmlama administration is suing Arizona
over the state law, set to take effect July 29, which would make it a
state crime for a person to be in the country illegally. It requires
local law enforcement during all "lawful stops" to question a person
about his or her immigration status if there is "reasonable suspicion"
that the person may be an illegal immigrant.

This is incredible, why isn't the mainstream media reporting on these events on our border?

MEXICO CITY — The other side of the border is
also preparing for the implementation of Arizona's new immigration law,
which could lead to a surge of deportees back to Mexico.

Migrant shelters along the border in Mexico say they're bracing for new arrivals after the law goes into effect Thursday.

Mexico's government has added more workers to its
consulate in Phoenix to assist detained Mexicans. Migrants who have
been deported say they're watching to see how the law is enforced before
deciding whether to try again to cross the border illegally into
Arizona.

"On the plane, everybody was talking about the
law," said Ernesto González, a deportee who arrived here last week on a
U.S. government flight from Tucson. "Everybody knows it's coming."

Arizona's law makes it a state crime to be in the
country illegally. It requires police to check a person's immigration
status when the person has been involved in another offense and the
officer has reasonable cause to suspect the person is in the country
illegally. The check can be made only during the course of a lawful
police action, such as a traffic stop or investigation of a crime.

The law also allows Arizona citizens to sue
police departments if they feel the new law is not being enforced — a
provision related to "sanctuary cities," where local government
officials refuse to enforce anti-illegal-immigration laws.

The Obama administration and several rights
groups have sued to stop the law from taking effect. The Mexican
government has filed a "friend of the court" brief supporting the lawsuits.

It's about time!

National Guard to Deploy to Southwest Border Aug. 1

foxnews.com

Administration officials on Monday announced
that the 1,200 National Guard troops pledged weeks ago by President
Obama will deploy to the southwest border starting on Aug. 1 as part of
an effort to bring the region "under control."

Alan Bersin, commissioner of Customs and
Border Protection, said the troops would "support" the work of
Department of Homeland Security personnel already operating on the
border.

"The Guard has been a tried and tested
support to law enforcement ... and I'm confident they'll prove it again
in this instance," Bersin said.

He said the deployment will coincide with a boost in surveillance technology in the region.

Obama in May announced the National Guard
deployment amid increased concerns about border violence stemming from
illegal immigration and drug smuggling. The announcement also came after
Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer signed a law making illegal immigration a state
crime -- a policy the administration is trying to strike down in federal court.

Arizona Immigration Law Blocked by Federal Judge

PHOENIX — A federal judge stepped into the fight over Arizona's
immigration law at the last minute Wednesday, blocking the heart of the
measure and defusing a confrontation between police and thousands of
activists that had been building for months.

Coming just hours before the law was to take effect, the ruling isn't the end.

It sets up a lengthy legal battle that could end up before
the Supreme Court – ensuring that a law that reignited the immigration
debate, inspired similar measures nationwide, created fodder for
political campaigns and raised tensions with Mexico will stay in the
spotlight.

Protesters who gathered at the state Capitol and outside the U.S.
Embassy in Mexico City cheered when they heard the news. The governor,
the law's authors and anti-illegal immigration groups vow

Gee look at what happens when politicians appoint Judges. Keep in mind the Supreme Court is one car wreck away from Obama taking control with his way left views. Especially the latest appointee to the Supreme Court, Kagan. She is not a fan of the First and Second Amendment.

I find it hard to believe there is no impeachment process for a Federal judge. I mean, we have one for the President don't we?

Arizona Sheriff: ‘Our Own Government Has Become Our Enemy’

Monday, August 02, 2010

By
Penny Starr, Senior Staff Writer

Babeu told CNSNews.com that rather than help law enforcement in Arizona
stop the hundreds of thousands of people who come into the United States
illegally, the federal government is targeting the state and its law
enforcement personnel.

You gotta be kidding me!

National Guard Troops Begin Deployment Along Southw
est Border

Critics Slam Size and Pace of 1,200-Troop Deployment, Expected to Peak in September

But anyone expecting to see a phalanx of U.S. soldiers standing guard
along the 2,000-mile stretch with Mexico will be sorely disappointed.
The troops aren't expected to be in place until early September and,
when they are, will largely remain unseen in support roles.

"There is a misunderstanding about what deployment means," said Border
Patrol Agent Mario Escalante of Arizona's Tucson sector. "It's starting
to unfold; we've gotten several people in, we're starting to look at
what we have and where we might need them [more troops]."

Arizona Sheriff Joe's head: Mexican drug cartel offers $1M bounty for Arpaio (video)

A chilling audio tape with text, circulating by e-mail, has been reported
that puts a million dollar price on conservative hero, Sheriff Joe
Arpaio's head. Is it a coincidence that this was reported on the same
day that Arizona's immigration law, SB 1070, became effective?

Though the SB 1070 law that has gone into effect is a gutted version of the real bill, yesterday was also the day that Governor Brewer filed an expedited appeal, vowing to fight all the way to the Supreme Court if
necessary.  Yesterday was also the day that busloads of imported
protesters from California chained themselves outside Sheriff Arpaio's
jail.

Still, there are those who think the real solution isn't
immigration reform  or securing the border. Some feel certain the fact
that Arizona is trying to block the drug highway from Mexico, thus
cutting off the drug cartel's route to supply drugs to the United States
is the primary reason that the drug cartel is allegedly  out to

In the message, $1M  reward is placed on Arpaio's head, and for mafia
cartel recruiting purposes,  another $1K to join the  cartel.

need help to raise money to buy Arizona made semi-automatic rifles to
fight this threat against our citizens.”The Pinal County

Back Door Amnesty Any Way You Slice It.

Feds Dismissing Illegal Alien Cases

It seems the Democrats/socialists in
Washington D.C. are in a full court press to ignore the law they are
sworn to uphold and allow illegal aliens free access to and rein of our
country.

We knew the Obama Administration was suing the state of Arizona for trying to help enforce the immigration and border control law that the federal government has been doing its best to ignore.

Then we caught wind of a draft memo which showed the feds working on a backdoor amnesty program for illegal aliens, and then yet another memo surfaced after that.

Now the Houston Chronicle reports the cases of many illegal aliens are being dismissed by the federal government:

The Department of
Homeland Security is systematically reviewing thousands of pending
immigration cases and moving to dismiss those filed against suspected
illegal immigrants who have no serious criminal records, according to
several sources familiar with the efforts.

Culling
the immigration court system dockets of noncriminals started in earnest
in Houston about a month ago and has stunned local immigration
attorneys, who have reported coming to court anticipating clients’
deportations only to learn that the government was dismissing their
cases.
