Tea Party Patriots, an organization with a reach of millions of members and over 1,000 voluntarily affliated tea party and 912 local groups asks: WHY WOULD 600 PEOPLE AT A RALLY CREATE A MEDIA FREENZY?
For the last year, Tea Party Patriots have come together in every state across the nation, held tea parties in larger cities to smaller towns and nearly 2 million tea party patriots showed up in DC in September to rally together for the cause of liberty. Where was the media then?
Why did the media choose to show up at a tea party rally in Nashville that marketed itself as a "national convention" with only 600 participants who claimed to speak on behalf of the movement?
Why would the media show up just because a national figure was asked to speak? National figures spoke all over the country in local tea party rallies all year and in DC on September 12th.
We believe the answer to "Why?" is this:
There are heavy efforts underway to align us to a political party.
There is great concern that the Tea Party Movement will become a third party.
The media did not do their homework on this "national convention" and is now creating misinformation on the movement.
The Tea Party Movement started because of these tactics and we will not be used like this. We are smarter than that and we will call out any one and any organization who tries to undermine the grassroots movement known as the Tea Party Movement.
Our challenge regarding this misrepresentation:
For the media:
While we appreciate the national spotlight, we challenge you to do your homework on press releases and marketing strategies of groups and individuals. Had you given the National March on Washington the same coverage you gave this "convention" it would have been more realistic of the voice of the people. During that march, it was evident what the people of the movement wanted our platform to be: LIBERTY.
We challenge the media to show up in their individual cities and towns on April 15th as we gather for our "regional conventions" and Stand Up for LIBERTY once again.
For the politicians:
We believe the thrust of our effort has been and will continue to be providing proper forums for all Americans to voice their opinions about their existing government and the changes that are necessary to restore the country to a constitutional footing. We do not dictate to our members. They get enough of that from the parties and from our government. They want the freedom to find facts, participate individually and act accordingly. We the People are smart and will not buy any tactics by politicians to use or co-opt us or the movement.
For the people:
Become well-informed citizens and know the tactics that will be used against us - especially in 2010. This is an important year politically and we will do our best to inform and educate you on issues. We will also alert you to tactics used by political parties and outside interests to hijack the movement. We ask you to do the same thing on a local basis so we can stop the madness and right our country to common sense decision-making.
If you have not joined a local Tea Party, find one and get involved. This is where you can meet up with like-minded individuals who love their country and want to protect it. To find a local tea party group, go to http://teapartypatriots.org/Search.aspx.

February, 2010
Three exciting things are happening in February of 2010:
February 27th marks the 1-year anniversary of the Nationwide Tea Party movement and we cannot let that pass without highlighting where we have been, what we have accomplished and where we are going.
To highlight what we have accomplished and where we are going, we will roll out our final 20 options for the Contract from America at a press conference on February 18. That will begin the final voting process for the Contract from America. Be sure to watch for an email telling how to vote for it so you have an impact on the final document.
On February 27th, to show where we have been and that we intend to continue to make our voices heard, we will have a round of Tea Party Patriots Street Demonstrations called Recharge the Movement Demonstrations. These will be very raw and rough like the first round of tea parties were last year. Most locations will not have lots of predetermined people to speak and instead will use bullhorns and be a bit more unscripted as they were on February 27th of last year. The messaging will continue to be our core values of fiscal responsibility, constitutionally limited government, and free markets. If you want to host one of these tea parties, please click here to sign up. We will have someone contact you via phone or email to help you get started. Some locations have decided to host tea parties and/or training sessions. We encourage you to host an event on 2-27-2010. The type of event you host is up to you.
As a bonus to celebrate our one year anniversary on February 27th, we are encouraging all of our members to host house parties that evening to show The Tea Party Movie: the Documentary. This movie is an incredible way to get more people involved in the movement. It is arguably our single best advertising resource to date. Purchase a copy of the movie, invite your friends, family, and neighbors over for a movie night with popcorn and watch the Tea Party Documentary. After the movie, ask them to sign up to become a Tea Party Patriot. Ask them to help you plan an April 15th Tax Day Tea Party. You will not be disappointed you did but you might be disappointed if you don't.
As we prepare for Tax Day Tea Parties on April 15th, we encourage each individual Tea Party Patriot member to consider hosting a Tax Day Tea Party. Last year there were over 850 tea parties across the country on April 15th with over 1.2 million in attendance.
Our local coordinators realize that to continue to grow the movement, we need more local coordinators. Each one of us within the movement has our very own circle of influence. Many of those people within your individual circle of influence would come to a tea party you host but may not attend a tea party that someone else is planning.
Of course, there is always a caveat. We ask that you honor the tea parties that already exist in your town or major metro area by planning your event at a different time than the major event for the area. The best way to do this is to plan a pre- or post- tea party to coordinate with the major tea party in your area. This way you can bring your circle of influence to the single tea party in your area where the media will be. That will insure the largest audience for the media and it also insures that we are not competing with one another. In turn, the existing tea party groups are asked to help you plan your event and allow your input into the major metro event. In areas, where we have implemented this model, the tea party groups have grown tremendously.
In March, we are asking you to reach deep within yourself to determine if starting your own local tea party group makes sense for you. In March, we will have training available to help get you started. We will also have local coordinators who already have experience to help you get started. CLICK HERE to view helpful hints for starting a Tea Party.
We are all in this movement to reclaim America's founding principles and the best way to do that is to grow the movement and teach others what our core values are.
April, 2010 - TAX DAY TEA PARTIES
Last year on April 15th, we had over 850 tea parties with over 1.2 million people in attendance, on a Wednesday, protesting out of control government taxing and spending. These tea parties were all over the country. This year, we will have Tax Day Tea Parties again on April 15th. How many will we have? Will you step up to the challenge and host a Tax Day Tea Party for your own circle of influence?
We will have tea parties both small and large around the country. There will be several major regional events including in Washington, DC, Atlanta, and Sacramento. We are also working on regional events in 1 - 3 other locations which are still to be determined. The regional events will be in the late afternoon (on the west coast) and evening hours (on the east coast) and will be webcast across the country. Additionally, keynote speakers at each of the locations will be simulcast on jumbotrons to the other regional locations.
This approach will hopefully give people who want to participate in a larger event the ability to do so without having to go to through the full expense of traveling across the country to a single location. Additionally, it will give those who want to participate from their home the ability to do so via the webcast.
At the Tax Day Tea Parties, we will roll out our final version of the Contract from America. We will ask you to sign the Contract from America and we will also be asking elected officials to sign the Contract from America at the Tax Day Tea Parties.
Last year many organizations signed on as coalition partners for Tax Day Tea Parties. We are working to do the same this year. So far, we have Freedom Works and American Liberty Alliance as coalition partners. We will be announcing more coalition partners in the weeks to come.
If you are willing to host a Tax Day Tea Party and have not been a local coordinator before, please CLICK HERE to fill out this form. If you are a local coordinator and are hosting a tax day tea party, be sure your tea party is listed on our web siteso others in your area can find it.
April - June, 2010
Our focus in May and June will be training. We will have training opportunities for you regarding the Constitution and founding principles. Additionally, we will have training to teach you how to become a better activist.
The training will show you how you can become more involved in the tea party movement. Whether it is writing blog posts about our core values, walking door to door to teach people about our core values, or making phone calls to elected officials, you will learn about ways you can use your talents to get more involved.
While this training is scheduled to start in April, it will be ongoing throughout the year.
In addition to the training, we will watch for educational and grassroots lobbying opportunities regarding hot legislative topics. These activities will be similar to what we have already been doing with Cap and Trade and Government Takeover of Health Care.
July, 2010
Since we are patriots, we cannot let July 4th go by without celebrating America's Birth and Independence. Rather than compete with existing and traditional Independence Day celebrations, this year on July and around July 4th, we are encouraging each local coordinator (or representative of a local tea party group) to organize your local tea party group to participate in Independence Day Parades, Fairs, and Festivals in your local communities.
Tea Party Patriots is also exploring an idea for a bi-coastal Independence Day FamilyTea Party Event. This idea is in the preliminary stages and we will have to see how it plays out.
We also encourage you to host a Tea Party Patriots Backyard BBQ and Ice Cream Social in your own home in July. We will have 1 day around the country where we are asking Tea Party Patriots members to host house parties. At these house parties, we will teach our own circle of influence about what the tea party movement is, what we stand for, and why it matters. We have some fun activities planned to go along with these Backyard BBQ and Ice Cream Socials. Stay tuned for details.
August, 2010 - TOWN HALL HEAT
In 2009 Tea Party Patriots, like you, redefined the traditional Town Hall meetings held by members of Congress during their summer break. Congress will be on recess in August 2010 and back at home in their districts around the country. We will keep you up-to-date on Town Hall dates, times, and locations, as well as the hot legislative issues which will be on the agendas.
In addition to Town Halls, we will be planning for our second 912 March on DC. If you are able to coordinate a bus or caravan for the trip, please fill out this form so we can help you with the details.
September, 2010 - 912 March on DC
We had many questions and thoughts regarding whether or not to do the 9/12 March on DC again this year. Do we have the resources? What are our expectations? Etc. In the end, the question became, "How can we not do the march again this year?" You, the grassroots members, want to come back to Washington, DC on a single day to make your voices heard.
We are a grassroots, bottom-up organization and we honor your desire. So, we are headed back to DC on September 12 for another March on DC. Again, Freedom Works will be the primary host of the event. We will be one of their coalition partners. Our National Coordinator, Jenny Beth Martin, will again be National Co-Coordinator for the 912 March on DC along with Freedom Works' Brendan Steinhauser. Just like with the Tax Day Tea Parties and last year's 912 March on DC, we will reach out to other like-minded fiscal and constitutional organizations to partner with them as we plan and implement the March on DC.
Like last year, there will be opportunities for training and networking. Also, Tea Party Patriots will host the Sign Making Party again on September 11.
Watch for details in the coming months regarding other partnering organizations, speakers, training events, and more.
October - November, 2010
As we draw closer to Election Day, we will have voter guides online that will compare candidates for various offices based on our core values:
fiscal responsibility
constitutionally limited government
free markets.
We will provide you the information you need to make the best decision when you are at the ballot box.
December, 2010
One way to grow is to evaluate what you have done and what lessons you have learned from your actions. In December, we will do just that. At the end of the year, we will recap what we have done, what we have learned, what we can do better, and how we can make a bigger and better impact in the future. There will be another survey similar to the Three for Tea Survey that individual members may fill out to offer their input on what we have done, where we should go, etc.
We will use this feedback to plan for 2011 and beyond.
The Process
After reading the responses to the 2009 survey, the First Coast Tea Party in the Jacksonville, Florida area graciously sponsored and hosted the National Coordinator team at a Board Strategy Meeting. The National Coordinator team reviewed the results and created a plan for what they thought you our grassroots Tea Party Patriots wanted.
But, the National Coordinator Team never makes a final decision without input from the Local Coordinators. We know that they are in touch with you on a daily basis and we trust their judgment. After the Board Strategy Meeting, Local Coordinators from around the country came to Washington, DC for a Local Coordinator Leadership Summit.
You may not be aware of the fact that many dedicated Tea Party Patriots Local Coordinators around the country have quit their jobs or stopped their second jobs to promote this movement. They are having to make decisions about whether to continue with the movement or to go back to work to pay for their bills or cut out all the niceties like going out to dinner or date nights with their spouses they enjoyed before last February. Most of the local coordinators we talk to no longer watch TV at night but instead are on long conference calls and meetings to keep the momentum moving. They have dropped their involvement in other activities they used to participate in to give every spare minute to the movement. They are literally sacrificing their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor. We wanted to make sure we could accommodate as many of those people as possible with your generous donations. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to making possible for them to travel to DC to plan the year.
While in DC, the local coordinators went through the plans and refined them. It was an incredible meeting! There were members of 912 Groups and members from Freedom Works who also participated in the meeting. Finally, they had the opportunity to meet others face-to-face who they have talked to over the phone for the past year. They also discussed the best practices, plans for the 2010, plans for beyond 2010.
Since several more Local Coordinators could not make it Washington, DC (most only had 5 days notice), we took the 2010 plans to the Local Coordinator Leadership Council weekly conference call this Monday for final approval of the plan. With their final approval, we present the plan to you. We present it knowing that each individual member of Tea Party Patriots has had the opportunity to set the direction for the tea party movement this year and beyond.
You are the heart and soul of the Tea Party Movement. Thank you for promoting the causes of fiscal responsibility, constitutionally limited government, and free markets with us!

Mountain Guy, all this tea party stuff is interesting, but what happened to the fair tax? It just seems like some other so called 'grass roots' effort that is doomed to fizzle.
Perhaps, it is the name that bothers me. It conjures up an image in my little manape brain of drunken Englishmen hijacking a ship and throwing boxes of tea in the Boston Harbor.
I'm all for LIBERTY, FREEDOM, and low taxes, but I don't want to be part of a when the SHTF sheep with guns group. I fear the shadow government boggy man may come and take me away...Am I being overly paranoid here? Don't get me wrong. I believe an armed society is a polite society and I'm all for bearing arms.
I think the government should fear the people, but not because we are going to take our guns and shoot the egg sucking wolves. They should fear us because of out votes.
The real problem is that the freedom loving tea party doesn't have a vote getting candidate. It is just like the democratic-republican donkeyphant party of Union county. No democrat or republican candidates could come close to beating the current commish.
Have you ever seen the donkeyphant party symbol? It is the butt of and elephant and the butt of a donkey joined together. The problem is the donkeyphant party is hot air and no brains. That's why to populace won't vote for donkeyphants.

I guess I need to explain "out votes" and "bearing arms" fer all you flatlander English majors.
OUT VOTES
You may have though I meant the government should fear our votes, but the candidates should fear our OUT VOTES which are our votes to throw them OUT of office if they don't do a good job.
BEARING ARMS
Bearing arms is a term used here in the mountains. You can't have enough guns to protect yer self from the bears that inhabit our mountains.

Manape,
I could write volumes on the "fair" tax! First, let me say there is no "fair" tax. The only "fair" tax is NO tax when it comes to the govt......lol. The first reason it will never come about is, the income tax goes to pay the interest on the deficit (see Grace Commission Report). All our income tax money goes directly to the Federal Reserve. Remember, the banks run the show. That's why they get the bailout money - not us.
Second, in order to have a fair tax they would have to get rid of the income tax by repealing the 16th amendment. Nobody talks about this part. What happens if we have a fair tax and don't repeal the income tax? We'll not only have a national fair tax but, we'll be paying both federal and state income tax on top of the fair tax.
This why I laugh out loud whenever I hear people like Huckabee and Bortz going on and on about the damn thing. It's a joke.
The Tea Party is a grassroots movement. It's not about any one candidate. To say that there is one candidate that represents the Party would be self-defeating. On the other hand, the Party is about supporting like minded candidates. For example, Rand Paul who is ahead in the KY race for Senator who has the support of Sarah Palin. She donated the maximum amount allowable to his campaign. The Tea Party has donated about 2 million as well which gives him more to spend than his competitors. We have Debra Medina who is running for governor of Texas and doing well. My personal favorite is John Dennis who is running for Nancy Pelosi's seat in Congress. Peter Schiff in CT running for Chris Dodd's seat. The Party donated about a million or so to him. It's happening.
"Democracy is two wolves and a sheep deciding what's for lunch." In a Republic the sheep would have a gun.

Agree. It's a joke, but I'm not laughing. On the other hand, LOL RITF...
All this tea is keeping me awake. Gotta head for the bed. 5 AM comes too stinking early.
Gotta go to work to pay taxes. That van by the river looks very attractive to me right now. Perhaps, if enough people get together, don't work, don't pay taxes, get on welfare and live down by the river the government will wake up and smell the coffee or tea...I should say. Have a nice day.

Just so folks know, there are Tea Party candidates running in States all over the country. The interview below is with Debra Medina who is gaining popularity by the day. Her campaign is extremely important because it will set an example for the rest of the country. She has a very good chance of winning.

Independents now make up 39% of the voting population. Making them larger than the Democrats or Republicans. Not to mention, the Tea Party is now pulling support from both sides along with the Independents.

Why can't the Media get it through their tiny little heads? The Tea Party is not about Republicans or Democrats! We know there is no difference. One is just as bad as the other. That's why we're in this mess.

Well, duh...perhaps the media is confused by your name, TEA PARTY!
I'll listen to your video later. I need to make coffee.
The real issue is whether or not THE TEA PARTY is EFFECTIVE.
The real test is whether the people in office fear the votes of INDEPENDENTS, Conservative Democrats and Republicans parties.
You need a mainline political leader who can win the support of the voters first and secondly when he or she gets in office can they win the support of the others in office to make positive change in government.
Ronald Reagan was a master at winning support of others in political office. You need at least one Reagan who was in in a mainline party. Right now, none of the mainline parties can agree on anything, especially getting rid of non-essential costs in government.

Mountain Guy:What do you think some of the media trying to link Joseph Stack to the the TEA party? Why do you think the media is against the TEA party movement??? I'm outraged. As far as I know, the tea party is a peaceful movement.

The looney left has tried to portray the tragic acts of Joseph Stack (the suicide pilot that flew his single engine plane into an Austin IRS building yesterday) as a result of the Tea Party Movement. The grand intellectuals over at Daily Kos started the speculation yesterday about whether or not Mr. Stack was part of the Tea Parties. Your answer: No, he wasn't. To all the other pundits out there - you are wrong too.
This was a tragic case of a man who snapped, who left a wake of tragedy behind him.

Since Tea Party Patriots is the organization that supports the local coordinators and grassroots members, TPP members have stepped up to the plate to help organize the British Tea Party as well. Today, at 4:00 pm eastern, Tea Party Patriots' Hot Tea Radio Show will host Daniel Hannan to find out what is happening in the EU and why he is leading this effort in Britain.
Did you know Tea Party Patriots have been helping international local tea party groups since our inception? We have had tea parties in the UK on Thanksgiving in front of Parliament, the Netherlands on Tax Day last year. There is a European Tea Party Movement that has started and Tea Party Patriots is mentoring them to help get organized.
If you are thinking of starting a local Tea Party Patriots group, you can sign up here and someone will be in touch with you shortly to help you get started.
You are the heart and soul of the Tea Party Movement. Thank you for promoting the causes of fiscal responsibility, constitutionally limited government, and free markets with us!

That is absolutely ridiculous! I read his statement that was posted online. Anyone who could come away with the impression that he was some sort of conspiracy nut has to be one them self! The Tea Party was never even mentioned.
Of course we all know that anyone who trusts the mainstream media is misinformed as well. Read and determine for yourself. Don't let them dictate what you perceive as reality. We all need to read between the lines.

Debra Medina: Star of the Tea Party, The Texan Version of Sarah Palin
Debra Medina and the race for Texas governor have attained international attention. The British newspaper, Guardian, released an article today likening GOP gubernatorial candidate Debra Medina to Sarah Palin with her fiery messages that can easily win over a crowd.
Medina comes from a town right outside San Antonio called Lytle, and with a population of only 2,383, this town is little indeed! This ranchland town now has a claim to fame:
Previously unheard of by the vast majority of Texans, Medina has set the race for governor on fire, upsetting the primary contest between the incumbent, Rick Perry, and Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison.

Tea Party Movement Goes International
Monday, March 01, 2010
Daniel Hannan, E.U. Parliament Conservative
This is a rush transcript from "Your World With Neil Cavuto," February 26, 2010. This copy may not be in its final form and may be updated.
NEIL CAVUTO, HOST: Well, you know the tea parties are set to go international now.
In less than 24 hours, my next guest will be hosting the first Tea Party in England, protesting out-of-control taxation. You know him quite well.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
DANIEL HANNAN, EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT CONSERVATIVE: You cannot carry on forever, squeezing the productive bit of the economy in order to fund an unprecedented engorgement of the unproductive bit.
(CHEERING AND APPLAUSE) HANNAN: You cannot spend your way out of recession or borrow your way out of debt.
